The AWE Conference 2013 (8-10 November 2013)

Who Runs The World… Girls!

This mantra stuck to me when Juno Kim shared her inspiration for the upcoming Asian Women’s Empowernment Conference (AWE) in our city Kuala Lumpur. The conference is opened to all women who aspires to follow their dreams and thrive in an independent lifestyle. This includes freelancers, world traveler, bloggers, creative minds alike and women with a passion to change their world.

Breaking the mold, and standing out is tougher for Asian women in a male-dominated society. We are restricted by culture, religion, and social convention. Many ambitious women have been going abroad, where it’s easier to follow their passions in an unconventional path. – Host Juno Kim

The Lovely Host – Juno Kim.

JunoKim_Florence_1 According to AWE host Juno Kim, the world is changing, and Asia is slowly participating in the movement. While it is still difficult to choose your own path in Asian society, there are more inspirational Asian women who are impacting our global world. AWE Conference will present models of successful Asian women, and discuss participant’s current life goals through workshops while designing the roads to success.

The first time I read RunawayJuno.com I was amazed at the courage of this person leaving behind a stable job in pursuit of personal happiness. After reading her travel stories, it’s easy to understand why. You can after all have the best of both worlds, doing what you love and getting an income from it. Although I have yet to head to this path, I feel that she inspires women like myself to not be afraid to make that first step in pursuing your dream. There will be obstacles but there will also be solutions and with a solid support system, a lot of good things can happen too.

Who the Conference is For.

AWE Conference is designed for Asian women and expatriates in Asia who want to:

✔ Thrive within unconventional life choices
✔ Acquire ideas of diverse paths to success
✔ Belong to a community of inspiring women
✔ Seek more opportunities in life
✔ Get inspired to achieve their dreams

What’s Happening During The Conference.

This is the fun bit. There will be speakers from Asia consisting of travel bloggers, a financial planner, NGOs who will share their stories which aims to inspires all the women out there. Besides that there will also be a writing workshop by experienced writers in from Asia as well as panel talks which aims to discuss on using social media to achieve your goals and preparing for independent travels with invidividuals of different backgrounds. I, for one am excited and at the same time nervous in being on this panel as it will be the first time participating in such a huge event for women! I’ll try not to choke and freeze on stage. Here’s a snippet of the schedule which will take place from 8-10 November 2013 in Kuala Lumpur. Hope to see you there!

  1. Wow this is superb. Haven’t heard of it before but looks interesting. Although it’s a little tough for me to sign up now considering my unfixed schedule, I think I’d like to join this when the day comes (if am free then) 🙂
