Kota Kinabalu: Last Day

Pasar Gaya.

Our trip ends today but not without doing a last minute visit to Pasar Gaya which is 5 minutes away from our hotel. My aunt and I decided to be adventurous and take a walk at 730am.. which is clearly too early for me. We got a bit lost by the way but managed to find our way and what surprised me about this market is that it is clean unlike the normal weekly night markets. Later on I found out that this is because Pasar Gaya only sells dry items and there are no fishes, prawns, meat or even vegetables to be found.

What they do have are souvenier items and things like cakes, dry food, fruits, clothes and even pets! The walk was pleasant and my aunt was thrilled to see many things but we didn’t buy much because we had a plane to catch and stuffing our luggage at the last minute seemed like a challenge. This market is only available once a week, on a Sunday so make sure you pen some time to experience the sights & sound of Pasar Gaya, who knows you might be able to find some hidden treasures at any one of the stalls.

Thank you Kota Kinabalu for the wonderful time and 4 days may seem too long for a local destination but surprisingly we did get to see many interesting things when we paced ourselves.Fie’s Travel Tip:
When traveling with family, do ask what each and everyone wants to do before you head out for your travel adventure. That way, everyone gets to do what they want and they’re able to enjoy the trip with you. The memories are much fonder this way. 🙂
