Kota Kinabalu: Manukan Island

Jesselton Pier.

Julius dropped us at the busy Jesselton Pier where we queued up for a boat ride to Manukan Island. It costs RM17 both ways to the island and back which was rather affordable.

The boat ride was smooth but a little choppy as the waves got a bit higher but we managed the ride well, one hand on the rail and another clicking away to get the gorgeous blue sky landscaped against the islands. The first stop was to Mamutik Island where most families head to ride the banana boat, parasailing and just lie on the beach doing nothing. And today, I finally managed to capture a glimpse of the Mount Kinabalu smothered with mist. Am so happy for that!

Manukan is very pretty as in it’s very green on land and blue on the beach. People were snorkeling at the jetty area when we arrived and there were more people on the beach with their own planned activites such as more snorkeling, boomerang throwing & a little napping action too. We didn’t do much swimming and just laid down on the beach watching people go about on their activities. The air & weather was GREAT because the wind kept blowing and blowing which made us rather sleepy so we took a little nap (and the wind was still blowing and blowing). Love this island! Food is available at their restaurants & cafes if you feel hungry. This is a good ending to an exciting weekend trip in Malaysia.
