#10DBC [Day 9] – Location Independence
The 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge.
The 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge is about taking small actions and moving forward on a path that to building the momentum towards living life on my own terms. In other words, a more focused path, taking small steps toward a bigger goal.
In the seventh day post, I wrote about taking two imperfect moments that tend to make me feel overwhelm. Despite it being my two daily favorite things, I realized how having a busy schedule resulted in me procrastinating on those tasks. “Read #10DBC [Day 8] – Choosing Your Adventure “.
The art of being location independent.
Whenever I have a long holiday break here in Phnom Penh, I’d imagine myself being on a holiday, traveling instead of working a 9-5 job here, and working as a digital nomad. I’d get my cup of coffee with an awesome breakfast from the hotel, just enjoying the surrounding and the sound of people wading in the pool. Then I’d head back to my room to check on my emails and reply on anything that needs my attention.
An hour later, it’ll be time to head outside to explore the neighborhood. There’s the new cafe that just opened and a second-hand book to check out. I’ll head to these two places last though, once I’ve finished taking photos of the city from the roof tops or sky bars. This will be my mini project for the week because the city always looks good when viewed from different perspectives.
I’ll give Izwar or Kumar a buzz before I head to the cafe. It’ll be nice to catch up on what’s been happening in everyones life. It’s 5pm already? Bart’s here on his motorbike, which means we’re off for dinner. I’ll be back for the bookstore because there’s always tomorrow.
Being location independent may not be the right path for me right now but having a balance work-life plan is. No matter where I am, it’s important to have these two so that I don’t get burn-out from the 9-5 job and I still get to do the things I love with ease.
