#10DBC [Day 2] – Discovering Your WHY
The 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge.
The 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge is about taking small actions and moving forward on a path that to building the momentum towards living life on my own terms. In other words, a more focused path with a goal ahead, destroying distractions that come along with it.
The next challenge for Day 2 is understanding why we want a freedom lifestyle. In the first day post, I wrote about discovering what are the big challenges I face and what’s holding me back “Read #10DBC [Day1] – Finding Your Focus“. Therefore for today, I’ll be sharing the reasons for yearning a lifestyle that I can be in charge of, with the time that I have. Here are the main 3 reasons for achieving a freedom plan.
Why Freedom is important to me.
1] To spend time with loved ones.
Working in a demanding industry leaves me little time to spend time with my family, especially my parents who have retired from their 9 to 5 days. When we were kids, they would make sure we were exposed to seeing new places and people, so that we would grow up having another perception about the world, from someones’ eyes. They took us on road trips across the country, weekend getaways for food exploration even when they were busy and for this reason alone, I want to give back to them by taking them out more often. It’s little compared to the sacrifices they’ve made but it will nevertheless make them happy.
2] To travel around the world.
When I achieve financial freedom, I would love to make traveling my main focus and continue to visits new places to write stories about them. This would be a legacy that I would be most happy to pass on to my family. Traveling also gives me the freedom to meet new people, learn more about their lives and understand the history behind the standing structures. It makes me more tolerant, patient and exercise kindness as I get to know the different cultures around the world.
3] To share the love for travel with everyone.
Living in Cambodia and writing about it gave me the opportunity to connect with travelers who are starting to backpack their way around Indochina. I give tips on places to to go and food recommendations so that they are able to enjoy both the tourist sites and the local insights. In a way, I have given back to the local businesses with the recommendations and hope to continue doing so for years to come.
I like the challenge so far. At least I can see where I can improve and why I want to focus on these highlights to move forward. It not only lets me understand where and how I can take this passion to the next level. Looks like I’ll be working on this until the 10 day ends!
